Synthesis and Medical Application of 3D Graphene Materials the incorporation of a large volume of drugs, hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs can be loaded on the surface and inside the CNTs, multi drugs are loaded onto the CNTs in the case of multidrug therapies. Interestingly, drugs loaded on the surface of the CNTs can recognize specific receptors present on the surface of the cell thereby crossing the cellular barrier by endocytosis or through other mechanisms without producing toxic effects (Hassan et al., 2020). This method has been very effective in the delivery of several anticancer drugs like methotrexate 1, epirubicin 2, and doxorubicin 3 by binding on the CNTs and their efficacy has been checked in vivo and in vitro for the treatment of cancer cells (Chen et al., 2011).
