The third major modification was placing the setup in a hermetically sealed cabinet. This facilitated experiments to be run in an oxygen-deprived environment while also protecting from UV light. This modification required the pump to be externally controllable, so the Shenchen LabV1 pump was connected to the SP-300 potentiostat via a DB9 cable, which allowed control of the flow rate through the potentiostat software. All cables from the connected instruments were passed through the cabinet with a sealed cable lead-in.
