Conclusions A new method of efficient icing control using the AC-DBD plasma actuation was investigated in present paper. In order to gain more physical insight into the actuation mechanisms on icing control of AC-DBD actuators, the thermal effect associated with plasma actuation was investigated before the plasma icing control study. The de- and anti-icing tests were carried on a cylinder model surface exposed to the ice accretion due to a supercooled upstream flow with 15 m/s wind speed and -20 ◦C static temperature in the ice wind tunnel. The surface temperature measurements results showed a fast and significant increase in the dielectric temperature.
