Fo ̈r att o ̈ka fo ̈rsta ̊elsen av triboelektriciteten har vi utvecklat en tva ̊-niva ̊ Schottkymodell som antar joner som laddningsba ̈rare fo ̈r att beskriva den triboelektriska uppladdningens temperaturberoende fo ̈r en TENG. De tva ̊ niva ̊erna motsvarar de tva ̊ kontaktande ytorna. Skillnaden i bindningsenergi mellan joner pa ̊ ytorna kommer da ̈rfo ̈r in i Boltzmannfaktorn. Modellen beskriver den minskande triboelektriska effekten vid o ̈kande temperatur som rapporterats i litteraturen, och sto ̈ds av att den separationsenergi man finner vid anpassning av modellen till data a ̈r av samma storleksordning som skillnaden i bindningsenergi fo ̈r fysikaliskt ytadsorberade atomer (adatomer). Nyligen visades det att TENG:s kan omvandla vindenergi till elektrisk energi. Vi har konstruerat en TENG baserad pa ̊ ett flappande plastband lo ̈st inspa ̈nt mellan tva ̊ kopparelektroder. Vi fann att frekvensen hos det flappande plastbandet o ̈kar linja ̈rt med vindhastigheten. TENG designade pa ̊ detta sa ̈tt alstrar elektrisk energi redan vid la ̊ga vindhastigheter vilket go ̈r att apparaten kan komma att anva ̈ndas ba ̊de som generator och som vindhastighetsma ̈tare i framtiden. Medan kvantmekanik bara a ̈r betydelsefull i ett begra ̈nsat antal nanomekaniska system har nanokontakter en mer allma ̈n tilla ̈mpning och a ̈r viktig fo ̈r fo ̈rsta ̊elsen av triboelektriska fenomen.
