Similarly, an increase in rotational speed led to an increase in the short circuit current density [1]. From these analyses, the optimal design of DC-TENG rotates rapidly and consists of as many electrode segments as possible. Anticipated Generator Output Predictions for the output current of DC TENG were made based on the reported results in the literature. Zhang et al. determined linear relationships between short circuit current density (Jsc, in mA/m2) and rotating speed (RPM), with an increase in number of segments corresponding to an increase in the slope of that curve [1]. They include data from s1, s2, s3, and s4 DC TENG (referred to as Semi, Quarter, Sixth, and Eighth, respectively, in their publication). The data is reproduced in Figure 4, which also includes the extrapolated prediction for short circuit current density for the s20 DC TENG (which would be labelled Fortieth by Zhang et al.).
