At some point, the amount of wear debris generated is sufficient to act as a solid lubricant, thus preventing further wear of the coating, which results in steady-state behavior. This friction coefficient behavior was similar for all coatings, even though their absolute values were different (as it will be discussed later). The sharp transients, especially in the friction data are electrical noise as the data is unfiltered.
