Rietveld refinement analysis, based on the structural data of Ba3Sc4O9 (ICSD #20621) and Ba3Lu4O9 (ICSD #38383) (ICSD, Inorganic Crystal Structure Database, 2015), confirms that the ScO6 octahedron is slightly distorted from a regular octahedron with the distance Sc–O of 0.1739 nm. Ba3(Sc1xCex)4O9 with x 1⁄4 0.001 shows the highest emission intensity (Fig. 21). The excitation spectrum consists of a relatively narrow band Normalized intensity (a.u.)
