For example, significant effort was put in- to scaling up the CO2 methanation process. Planning work is also currently underway for a demonstration plant as part of the KIT project EnergyLab 2.0 (https://www.kit.edu/kit/pi_2014_15859.php). The results are also being exploited commercially by the industrial project partners. Companies that manufacture electrolysis units for use in the power-to-gas process chain have continued to optimise their equipment in order to be able to meet the challenges that will continue to be posed as Germany transitions to a fully renewables-based energy system. 153
