CHAPTER 4: COlv:lPARlSON BETWEEN R-22 AND CO2 SYSTEM 114 Table 4.5 shows the summary of the annual water consumption and the annual energy consumption on a monthly basis for all three the systems. The increase in energy consumption between January and July for the R-22 system is 58.1%, for the CO2 system it is 53.6% and for the ILH system it is 45.8%. The greater increase in energy consumption for the heat pump systems is because the in-line heaters will be in operation more often in the winter than it will be in the summer. There is a 4.5% saving in the energy consumption of the CO2 heat pump compared to the R-22 heat pump for the above-mentioned months. This shows that the increase in energy demand from the summer to the winter is 4.5% less for the CO2 heat pump system. - [I] Jan 347000 Feb 339000 423000 463000 533000 552000 570000 536000 466000 421000 360000 345000 [kWh] 8051.1 7814.2 9686.4 11541 14410 17972 19243 17421 13947 11553 9118.5 8502.6 . The most important difference to note is the total annual energy consumption of the two heat pump systems. The R-22 system uses 9.4% more energy in total for the year than the CO2 system. This shows the difference in energy demand for a system with a higher COP compared to a system with a lower COP. A Techno-Economical Analysis ofa CO2 Heat Pump.
