David Wylie brings over 45 years of experience in energy efficient technologies, such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and thermal energy storage and is considered one of California’s preeminent energy efficiency experts. He has developed and delivered trainings for PG&E’s Industrial Strength Energy Efficiency Seminar Series, SCE’s Energy Education Centers, and SCE’s Customer Energy Services Department. David is a professional mechanical engineer, holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA from National University, CA. He currently serves as instructor and subject matter expert for D+R International. Meet the primary authors of today’s training. Nick Brown is a Certified Energy Analyst and expert in energy modeling and energy efficient building, with 20 years’ experience in the homebuilding industry. He is a subject matter expert on the statewide Energy Code Ace team that is responsible for energy code education, and he teaches classes for Southern California Edison on Net Zero Design, Clean Energy Homes, and Energy Code for Residential Architects. Nick spent 15 years as president of a building materials manufacturer prior to founding Build Smart, an independent energy consultancy. He was voted Member of the Year for 2020 by the California Association of Building Energy Consultants. He remodeled his own house to be net zero energy in a deep energy retrofit in 2014.
