Heat pumps on level playing field with gas furnace split systems: - VCHP modeling credit - Electric modeling pathway Ductless Heat Pump advantages: - MERV-13 return filtration not required - Fan/watt draw HERS test tougher for gas furnaces - No HERS duct leakage test OR fan watt draw test for ductless heat pump systems • The 2019 Energy Code (effective January 1, 2020) puts heat pumps on a level playing field with gas furnace split systems. • OUR MODELING SHOWS ~5 EDR POINT CREDIT FOR VCHP OR 10% TOWARD MEETING EFFICIENCY EDR (Can be traded off against other elements of the home, e.g., more glass) • All-electric pathway – now we can model electric systems without being compared to gas systems • MERV 13 filtration is mandatory under the 2019 Energy Code.
