Results and discussion flow rates). The maximum OCV was observed at zero current loads to the circuit. The conditioning process was carried out by applying a current via DC power supply. At maximum current density the fuel cell voltage reaches a minimum value (zero) and the DC power supply disconnected until the next run was ready. Standard MEA’s and modified binding layer MEA undergo the same conditioning steps to activate the fuel cell. The conditioning of MEA’s takes four to five conditioning times (30min each) to reach the maximum power density. 4.3 Effect of Varying Temperature on Standard MEA in DMFC In the following experiment, the fuel cell temperature was varied from 40°C to 70°C. The anode flow rate was fixed at 5.0 ml/min and the methanol concentration was 1.0 M.
