The polarization curve in Figure 4.6 shows the activation region, the ohmic region as well as the mass transport region. The difference between 60°C and 70°C polarization curve was obvious in the figure due to the temperature effect. The maximum current density at 60°C was 420 mA/cm2 and at 70°C was 520 mA/cm2 which indicates 20% increase in the current density. This was due to the effect of temperature on the kinetics, and the proton resistivity of the fuel cell. In Figure 4.6 the power density was plotted as a function of temperature. The maximum power density was 80 mW/cm2 at 70°C. The power density dramatically dropped to 48 mW/cm2 when the fuel cell was operated at 60°C. This may attributed to the kinetics and the proton conductivity.
