The power density (80 mW/cm2) of the 1.0 M methanol concentration experiment dropped 20% when using 2.0 M and nearly 43% when using 4.0 M methanol concentration. This was due to the methanol crossover phenomena in the fuel cell. However, an excellent improvement of the fuel cell power density was noticed when using 1.0 M at 70°C. The following section shows the effect of methanol concentration using sulfonated mordenite binding layer MEA in DMFC. 5.4 Effect of Varying Methanol Concentration on SULFO- MOR Modified Binding Layer MEA in DMFC In this section, the anode feed concentration (methanol molarity) was varied to test the effect of methanol concentration on SULFO-MOR MEA in DMFC. Different methanol concentration (1.0 M, 2.0 M, 4.0 M) were prepared and used as anode fuel in DMFC at 70°C. Figure 5.5 shows the polarization curve of SULFO-MOR MEA at different methanol concentration in DMFC.
