Results and discussion 6.3 Proton Conductivity of Mordenite Modified Binding Layer MEA in DMFC The fuel cell performance varies with changing concentration or the temperature due to the losses taking place in the fuel cell. It was necessary to investigate the proton conductivity of the 0.5 wt% F-MOR MEA at different concentration and temperature range from 40°C-70°C. The proton resistivity was measured via impedance spectroscopy. According to the polarization curve in Figure 4.6, the ohmic loss region was between 0.35V and 0.45V. The fuel cell was normally operated (1.0 M methanol at anode and air at the cathode) while the frequency response analysis (FRA) was measuring the resistivity by the frequency intercept of the impedance response on the real axis (z’) of Nyquist plot. Figure 6.5 indicates that the proton conductivity was directly related to fuel cell temperature.
