Adsorption Equilibrium Isotherms Representative adsorption equilibrium isotherms of three xylene isomers on the microporous Beta-0 and the mesoporous Beta-1,-2,-3 zeolite samples at 308 K are shown in Figure 4. It is observed that the isotherms of three xylene isomers on the Beta-0 display a sharp increase of adsorption capacities at low pressure region corresponding to micropore filling and then turn out to be a plateau at relative high pressures, which represent the typical characteristics of type-I adsorption isotherm. Compared to Beta-0, the adsorption isotherms of three xylene isomers on Beta-1,-2,-3 zeolites show a similar shape at first, however, the adsorption amount has a continual increase instead of a plateau as the pressure increases to relative higher pressure. This observation consists with the results of the N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, indicating again the presence of mesopores in Beta-1,-2,-3 zeolites. Moreover, the increase of adsorption capacities with pressure on four Beta zeolite samples follows, obviously, the order of Beta-0 < Beta-1 < Beta-2 < Beta-3, which can be reasonably ascribed to the increase of the mesopore volume (Vmeso) caused by newly created mesopores. 2.2.2. Modeling of Equilibrium Isotherms The single-site Toth model and the dual-site Toth model were used to fit the adsorption equilibrium data for Beta-0 and Beta-1,-2,-3 zeolites, respectively. As illustrated in Figure 4, there is a good agreement between the symbols of experimental data and the solid lines obtained from the fitting models. All the fitting parameters of three xylene isomers on the four Beta zeolites are summarized in Tables 2 and 3. 243
