Inpreviousapplicationsfiledbyme,nota blyinSerialNo.60,518,filedDecember2, 1897,andothers,Ihaveshownanddescribed variousformsofelectric-circuitcontrollers inwhichaconductingfluidisusedforoneor both of the terminals. These contrivances, whileapplicablegenerallyasameansofmak ingandbreakinganelectriccircuitwith greatrapidity,weredevisedbymemoreespe cialyforuseinmynowwell-knownsystemof electricalconversionbymeansofcondenser dischargesandforthisreasonhavebeende signedwithespecialreferencetothepeculiar andexceptionalconditionswhichobtainin suchsystems.
