energy and cogeneration facilities at 100 kW or less in capacity. The program is available to all customer classes, and there is no statewide limit to the amount of net-metering capacity. Utilities are not allowed to impose extra charges for customers signed up for net metering, nor are they allowed to require new liability insurance as a condition for interconnection. Utilities are also not required to purchase net excess generation from customers. The ruling, however, does allow customers to request that utilities purchase the net generation. In this case, the utility purchases the generation at the utility's filed avoided cost. Although all renewable energy sources are eligible, only wind-generating systems have used net metering in Oklahoma to date. In most cases, customer generation does not exceed demand.
