5 5.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Intended use 5.2 Waste heat recovery unit to be installed in a marine environment, e.g. aboard ships. The unit can recover heat from a number of different sources for instance: Scavenging air coolers (the cooling water) Waste steam Condensate High temperature water (HT-system) Thermal oil systems The basic requirement is that the temperature should be higher then 55 Deg C. It is however recommended to reach as high temperature as possible. This can be reached by adding several waste heat sources. See example installations in the appendixes. The maximum allowed temperature is 115 Deg C, with plate heat exchangers. This can be raised to 160 deg C with other heat exchangers. For higher temperatures a costumer adaptation is required.
