Once the values of these independent variables are given, the state of each point can be estimated and the cycle performance of the system is evaluated. With the input data given previously, the heat trans- fer area is calculated by running the evaporator/vapor generator and condenser module, respectively. Then, the economic objective function value of APR and LEC can be obtained. If the value is not the optimum one, the assumed input variables in step2 should be regulated, or continue to output systematic performance parameters and element data. The optimum objective function va- lue of the ORC system can be found by multi-dimensional optimi- zation techniques. 5. Results and discussion 5.1. Energy analysis Fig. 4 showed the variation of thermal efficiency with various evaporating temperatures for 10 different working fluids when the condensing temperature was 26 °C. According to the definition of Carnot efficiency, the high thermal efficiency was obtained by increasing evaporating temperature and decreasing condensing temperature. As indicated in Fig. 4, the thermal efficiency increased with the rising of evaporating temperature and the fluids with high boiling point were more efficient. R123 and R227ea yielded the
