However, builders and buyers may view economics differently. For example: • Builders may avoid including a solar system as standard equipment because the resulting higher price of the building might not be competitive in the market place. • Buyers may be unable to finance the additional cost of a solar system, even though the utility bills plus mortgage payments are lower (however, some lenders will take this into account). • Buyers may want a shorter payback on their investment. • Builders may be more concerned about the cost of the home than the cost of operating it.
