Figure 3.3.1 Predicted ORC design point performance The output section of the model shows all the predictions. The net power calculated here had allowances for additional mechanical losses in the drive system when we increase the speed for the high pressure-ratio application. It was estimated that the turbine inlet pressure would be 300 lbf/in2 and the condensing temperature would be 69.5F, consuming 647 kW (184 ton) of the heat in the exhaust flue and reject 538 kW (153 ton) of the heat to the condenser. The gross generated power is 103 kW. Figure 3.3.2 below shows ORC system data when driven by the C200 exhaust. The gross electrical output was 72 kW that is debited by the refrigerant pump power of 8.5 kW, yielding a net power of 63.5 kW. This power was generated with turbine inlet pressure of 212 lbf/in2, much lower than the 300 lbf/in2 predicted by the above model because of the reduced C200 available exhaust energy. 77
