1.7 Project Objectives In order to achieve the project aim mentioned above, the following objectives have been adopted in this project: • To conduct an extensive literature review of the state of the art techniques and technologies used for the recovery of waste heat from the process industries. • Based on the literature review carried out, to consider the modification of the existing process flow diagram (see Figure 4–1) (in collaboration with Brunel University and the industrial partners) in order to improve plant energy performance without compromising product quality. • To obtain the estimated waste heat stream composition, quality and quantity from the frying section of the KP Billingham plant (in collaboration with Brunel University and the industrial partners). • Based on the data obtained from the above step, to select the heat recovery technology that may be used for waste heat recovery in the frying section of the KP Billingham plant in order to improve the energy utilization efficiency and thermal performance of the plant without compromising on the product quality. • To develop IPSEpro steady state models of the selected waste heat energy recovery processes and validate the models using thermodynamic principles and industrial data from manufacturers. 27
