22 3.2.1 TemDerature Two thermistors (Thermometries Part S-10-+wire) were intended for primary measnrement [outlet (TM1) and inlet (TM2) water temperatures] dur- ing the condenser tests. Both the original units, 128 and 184, failed and were replaced before the end of the test period by units 281(May5, 1981) and 253 (October 20, 1981), respectively. Three other similar thermistors penetrated the condenser shell wall and provided temperature monitoring in selected parts of the vapor space. One (TU) was positioned at the very top of the space, near the vent port (after seventh vapor flow pass). The second (TU) was 1800 around the shell and three baffles below the first, near the vapor flow turn between the fourth and f i f t h vapor flow passes. The third (TM5) was installed on the same side of the shell as the second but just beneath the third baffle below it, near the vapor inlet. All thermistors were wired to a switch box that permitted individual resis- tance readouts on a digital multimeter, Hewlett-Packard Model 3465A, in the control room. Five Chromel-Alumel thermocouples were employed as secondary monitor- ing instruments - one (TU) in the vapor inlet, one (TC6) in the conden- sate return, and three in the shell vapor space. Of the three shell ther- mocouples, one (TC2) was just beneath the second baffle from the top (1800 from vent port), one (TC3) was between the f i r s t and second baffles above the vapor inlet (same side as vent port), and one (TC5) was just under the bottom baffle (1800 from vent port). A l l thermocouples were connected t o a Honeywell-Brown recorder for readout purposes. 3.2.2 Pressure Working-fluid pressure was sensed through a pressure tap in the upper shell wall. The pressure indicator (PG)was a 0- to 200-psig Solfrunt U.S. Gauge unit. 3.2.3 Flow Cooling-water flow was determined from measurements of pressure drop across a 5.77-cm (2.27-in.) orifice installed in the 3-in. line leading toPDF Image | Raft River Geothermal Test Site
