13.GEOTHERMAL ENERGY In 2012 eight new exploration licences for geothermal energy were applied for, eleven exploration licences for geothermal energy were awarded and two lapsed/relinquished. Two production licences were applied for. Changes in the exploration and production licences for geothermal energy, which took place during 2012, are listed in the tables below.
