Moreover, it has been decided in 2010 that much more heating networks will be classified as such: after this classification, it is compulsory for the new projects to be heated by the existing heating networks. Thus, the managers of the district heating can be confident in the development of their network and can more easily invest on heavy solutions like deep geothermal. At the beginning of 2010, there was a 40% tax reduction in place for individual housing, but the tax reduction only covered the investment for the heat pump. To support the market, it has been decided during the year 2010 that this tax reduction will from now on cover the heat pump but also the geothermal heat exchanger.
