San Marcos will be developed as a concession for an IPP. CHRONOLOGY 1980 - First studies done by INDE with OLADE. 1984 to 1986 - Prefeasibility study conducted by LANL withfundingfromUSAID. Slimholewelldrilled1km south of Laguna Ixpaco (808 m) encountered a maximum temperatureof235oC. Geochemistryindicatesupto 300oC. Testwellsindicatedtwofields;onewith temperature of 300oC centered below Laguna Ixpaco, the other with a temperature of 165oC. Estimated minimum potential of 50 MWe.
