Apart from issues associated primarily with unit power rating, we were strongly influenced when it came to component layout by current helium Brayton cycle work—the GT-MHR in particular. Thus in what follows, an integral power conversion unit which bundles all turbomachinery and heat exchangers into a common pressure vessel is the starting point for our further efforts.
