With the present engineering solutions it is possible to increase from the extrapolated valueof11GWforyear2010uptoa maximum of 70 GW (Fridleifsson, 2001). The gradual introduction of the aforesaid new developments may boost the growth rate with exponential increments after 10- 20 years, thus reaching the global world 160 120 80 40 target of 140 GW for year 2050 (Figure 10). It should be pointed out that some of these "new technologies" are already pro- ven and are currently spreading fast into the market, like the binary plant ("low temperature electricity production"), whe- reas the EGS are just entering the field demonstration phase to prove their via- bility.
