1 JOHDANTO OL1 ja OL2-laitosyksiköiden nimellinen reaktoriteho on 2500 MW. Laitosten hyö- tysuhde on n. 34 %. Loppuenergia johdetaan jäähdytysveden mukana mereen 3300 MW teholla. Tulevaisuudessa käynnistyvän OL3-yksikön ja suunnitteilla olevan OL4-yksikön jäähdytysvedet lämmittävät merta vielä lisäksi arviolta 2700 MW te- holla kumpikin. TVO sai vuonna 1977 Länsi-Suomen vesioikeudelta luvan (päätös n:o 25/1977 B) johtaa OL1 ja OL2 jäähdytysvedet Ison Kaalonperän lahteen. Ehdoiksi lupaan kirjat- tiin mm. voimalaitoksen hukkalämmön toteuttamiskelpoisten hyödyntämistapojen kartoitus. Siitä asti on TVO:lla aktiivisesti etsitty tapoja jolla tämä energia saadaan hyötykäyttöön. Tässä työssä keskitytään ORC-prosessin mahdollisuuksiin lauhde-energian talteen- otossa. Yleisesti ORC-prosessi tarvitsee suuremman lämpötilaeron, mitä Olkiluodon laitosten läpi jäähdytysvedestä on saatavana (Sipilä 1997). Tämän takia työssäni lä- hestytään ORC-prosessia OTEC:n näkökulmasta. Työ on rajattu käsittelemään niin että siinä tutkitaan ainoastaan ORC-tekniikkaa ja sen kahta eri sovellusta. Toisessa käytetään lämpönieluna ilmalauhdutusta ja toisessa ydinvoimalaitoksen jäähdytysveden tulopuolelta otettua kylmää merivettä. Työn alussa käsitellään ORC- ja OTEC-prosessien teoriaa yleisesti. Tämän jälkeen käsitellään TVO:n tilannetta ja esitellään ratkaisuja TVO:n omilla arvoilla. 7
