Kysei- sillä arvoilla laskentaohjelma antaa 1,8 MW tehon. Siitä vähentämällä 30 % häviöi- hin saadaan n. 1,2 MW teho. OTEC tarvitsee minimissään 10 asteen lämpötilaeron tuottaakseen sähköä. Tästä johtuen käytännössä laitosten koot rajoittuvat alle 100 MW tehoihin. 100 MW laitos käyttää 400 m3/s, 26 °C merivettä. Sitä on pum- pattava sisähalkaisijaltaan 16 metrin putkella, 20 metrin syvyydestä. 4 °C vettä tarvi- taan 200 m3/s.
