Experiments show that a degradation of less than 5% after 1,000 h of irradiation has been achieved [Mwaura 2008]. This would be less than one year of guaranteed lifetime if compared to today’s established PV technologies (many companies offer 20 years guaranteed power production with 5-10% power loss at maximum). The use of organic photovoltaics is mainly considered for consumer products. The target is to extend the lifetime above 5 years. For photovoltaic power stations a lifetime of at least 20 years is required [Mwaura 2008]. 1.2.7.
