Trends in Member States and in the private sector are generally in line with those figures despite variations over time and discrepancies between countries and companies. The real shortcoming for R&D in wind clearly comes from the EU. The usual financing trend of the EU between 2006 and 202013 will not be sufficient and the total financing gap during this period was estimated at €1 billion by the European Wind Energy Technology Platform, which means an investment shortfall of €450 million for the FP7 period.
