Education & Training 8 APICDA Higher Education Scholarship Requirement Changes Effective July 1, 2010 the following funding requirements and limits will apply to Higher Education Scholarship Applicants: Financial Need. APICDA scholarships are need based, and applicants should pursue all other scholarship and funding opportunities before applying to APICDA. Applicants shall demonstrate financial need to cover reasonable and direct expenses of their education. APICDA will consider all other sources of funding, actual and reasonably available, in determining financial need. Fund Limits. APICDA’s scholarships are subject to the following funding limits: A. Campus students. Applicants who are otherwise eligible for APICDA scholarships, enroll in a college or university and enroll in at least 80 percent live classes, reside away from their home communities and reside on or adja- cent to the campus of the college or university they attend are eligible for up to $5,000 in scholarship funds from APICDA. These students, like all APICDA scholarship recipients, must pursue all other scholarship and funding opportuni- ties before applying to APICDA. B. Distance education students. Applicants who are otherwise eligible for APICDA scholarships, enroll in more than 20 percent online classes, and do not leave their home communities to attend a college or university are eligible for up to $2,500 in scholarship funds from APICDA. These students, like all APICDA scholarship recipients, must pursue all other scholarship and funding opportuni- ties, and demonstrate the level of their own financial contributions to their edu- cation, before applying to APICDA. Application Requirements: Applicants must submit the items below with their application packets by July 1, 2010. 1. Federal W-2 forms for the student or, if the student is a dependent, for the student and the student’s parents or guardians. 2. A statement of the financial contribution of the student and the student’s family (may be included in personal statement).
