Figure 3.10 Flow sheet for the Harboore plant ,[43] System Performance The fuel used at Harboore is wood from a local plantation, the chips sizes vary between 10 - 80 mm and the moisture content is typically between 39-50% wt. The cold gas efficiency ranges between 70 and 80%, depending on how much tar that is recovered within the gasification process. The gasifier has been in operation for more than 75 000 hours and the engines have operated for 12 000 and 7 100 hours respectively between the years 2000-2004, [14]. According to FORCE Technology [44] the net electrical output is 1.45 MWel and the heat output amounts to 2.8 MWth. This results in a net electric efficiency of 32% and a gross overall efficiency of about 90%. Economic Evaluation The economic evaluation of the Harboore plant was done with the same method as presented in Chapter 1.3. The total investment of 5.5 MUSD was taken from Kjellström [7], resulting in ~5 M€ when adjusted with 1.2 €/$ and CPI for the year 2000 to 2007. A summary of the economic data is shown in Table 3.3.
