With a lower component cost and higher power generation capacity, the OFC is estimated to have a higher cumulated end-of-life (“EOL”) value over its 20 year life span. A 1 MW OFC system has a $3.7MM cumulated EOL value, which is 13.5% higher than the $3.2MM EOL value calculated for a 1 MW ORC system. As a result, based on this comprehensive research and comparison with the incumbent technology, the OFC is estimated to be 9% more efficient than the ORC and 5% cheaper on a total component cost basis for a 1 MW system. Furthermore, all of the additional components that allow for these benefits over the incumbent technology are readily available in the market. Market Dynamics Overview of Organic Rankine Cycle Market The existing market for the ORC serves as an excellent proxy in analyzing the potential OFC market given the close similarities.
