They believe there is definitely some potential for us if we are able to demonstrate increased efficiency. Beyond content on the market, the biggest takeaway was their desire to have a serious discussion about partnership with us. Interview Details: Background • Based in Houston • They have been developing the technology for about 4 years o 4 waste heat and 4 geothermal projects (5 installed to date) • Modular solution company • 60MW installed is the magnitude of their projects; have more in the pipeline • Both have engineering backgrounds • TAS was founded based on turbine-inlet cooling • Most of the technology is developed in-house, but open to technology come from outside of TAS Competition / Value Proposition / Market • They did a market analysis believed customers in the space would embrace them with open arms o Seems like some of their clients may have had issues with Ormat in the past, especially given that Ormat is vertically integrated and also a “competitor” • The biggest hurdle for them was financing; these things pay back relatively well (quickly) but it’s critical to get the resources lined up in advance • Most of the time they outbid their competitors and are able to get their product on the market more quickly than the competition • TAS is willing to work with the customer a lot more than Ormat • They go internationally to markets (mostly in Europe) where the price of power is higher as they can be more competitive in those geographies 44PDF Image | ElectraTherm Commissions 10 Green Machines
