• Geysers plants – come over to Calpine (has been there for 12 years or so). Works on the scheduling side of things • Calpine and Geothermal: o PURPA rules at FERC, built own plants at Geysers and sold energy to PG&E o Also has combined cycle and peaker plants in California o 700MW of geothermal, combined with 3,000 MW, so about a 4,000 MW footprint in California o Looking at some existing geothermal plants whose owners have indicated an interest in getting out, 6 or 7 a year of these opportunities o Sees renewables as part of its business, has also looked at wind and solar o Another geothermal resource up in Lassen (“Glass Mountain?”). Have the rights to this and would use flash cycle to use the excess waste heat from that resource. OFC would be more applicable there, rather than at the Geysers, which have dry, superheated steam and can use it directly o Have the rights to develop the steam field, but expansion is taken very cautiously. Right now, don’t build power plant unless a power contract is in space.
