Interview Details: • We look at various projects for waste heat recovery, and also from a cycle modification perspective. Liquid flooding is one of the ways that they are looking for. OFC as a system improvement, which is one of the categories that we are interested in. • The challenges that we should anticipate in building a prototype include: 1). expander selection, because prototype scale system, say 10 kW, is difficult to find a ready to go expander, as none makes such expander, we could only do it by DIY: reverse- compressor, or turbo-charger from auto-manufacturers. 2). there may not be cost saving in heater likely the same amount of area is needed, therefore likely the same cost the components cost. The heater in the ORC is not necessarily composed of three separate components, if not, then there will not be a cost reduction. 3) The flash evaporator may also need to DIY, and the irreversibility in the flash evaporator may offset the efficiency gain in the heater. • The cost saving on the heater in the OFC from our calculation is with our approach is difficult to defend in his perspective, because likely the same amount of area is needed. As most of the ORC do not have the heaters separated. Regenerator may not be required, and usually a preaheater is combined with evaporator as a big preheater.
