ANALYSIS OF LOWNPSPUNPRESSURIZEDHYDROGENFEED SYSTEM An analytical study was made t o estimate the required NPSH for starting an engine with a low-speed' hydraulic turbine driven inducer in the L82 feed line. To perform the engine start studies, an analog computer start model of the J-2s liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen engine was used. The model was modified t o include fuel pump cavitation and oxidizer and fuel pump inlet lines corresponding to the lines used on the S-IVB stage of the Saturn vehicle. I n addition, an analog computer model of a low speed, hydraulic turbine driven inducer (including inlet and outlet lines) was set up and used to replace the fuel pump inlet line. With these two models, the start and steady state per- formance of the engine with and without the low-speed fuel inducer was studied. The complete system i s shown i n Figure 17. It consists of the pro- pellant feed tanks, pump inlet lines (fuel inlet line with or without a low-speed inducer) and the J-2s engine.
