Flight Acceleration Simulation Effects The effect of simulated flight acceleration inputs are shown i n Figures and 46. In addition to the tank exit pressure oscillations generated by acceleration,pressure oscillations caused by the structural acceleration acting on the respective fluid column heights were included at the inducer and main pump inlets. The only significant effect observed is an increase in gain of approximately 10 db. Twoother inducer parameters were varied and they produced insignificant changes in the system frequency response output, These parameters were, (1) the fluid inertance of the inducer turbine feed line (varied from one-half to twice its reference value of 0.0395 sec2/in2) and, (2) the inducer discharge compliance (varied from i t s reference value of 0.001 in2 to 0.002 in2), Effects of Varying Main Pump Inlet Compliance In a feed system with a low-speed inducer, the inlet pressure to the main pump would be expected to be high enough to prevent any serious cavitation. As a result, the main pump compliances w i l l be small and probably w i l l not vary with inducer NPSH. The pump inlet compliance curves, determined experimentally for the M-1, F-1, and 5-2 turbopumps, are presented in Figure 47. Due to the wide range of inlet compliance values, frequency response data was obtained for variation i n this variable over the range of test results. The results, presented in Figures 48and 49,show that a softer (larger) main pump inlet compliance reduces the resonant frequency associated w i t h the inducer inertance.
