Similar rises and then falls have been experienced over the period 2002 to 2009 in fossil fuel prices and stock markets around the world. These fluctuations have occurred in parallel with a Global Financial Crisis, the outcome of which is uncertain at the current time (October 2009). It is therefore difficult to predict when and how these falls from the highs of 2008, and the recent partial recoveries will be reflected in market prices for piping and OEM supplied equipment, although it is expected they will continue to exert pressure on prices that continued to rise through the middle of 2008.
