GUNDER was founded as the Turkish section of International Solar Energy Society (ISES) based on the 10 February 1992 dated and 92/2752 numbered Council of Ministers administrative permission within Article 1 of Act. No: 3335 the International Associations Establishment Act. Founding members of GUNDER are related staff from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Electrical Power Resources Survey and Development Administration (EIE), Turkish State Meteorological Service and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and from other state institutions and organizations, related academic people, industrialists engaged in manufacture and trade in solar energy field. GUNDER carries out studies on production of energy systems and in Turkey and expand the solar energy applications. By organizing development and instructional meetings of the sector, symposiums, workshops, congress and similar activities or supporting the ones who are organizing them in different ways, GUNDER tries to promote the activities about solar energy and make them effective. In parallel with this purpose GUNDER organized scientific activities on its own by collaborating with various universities in recent years. In recent years, Gunder has been supporting the activities in different ways regarding to solar energy organized by central offices and branch offices (Izmir, Mersin, Kocaeli and Kayseri) of organizations such as The Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, The Chamber of Electrical Engineers, various foundations and associations. Apart from these supports, GUNDER has tried to make a contribution by participating the preparation of the rules and regulations regarding to renewable energy resources and energy efficiency at certain stages, by expressing its opinions as being the voice of sector and science field that was represented. Utilization of Renewable Energy Sources for the Purpose of Generating Electrical Energy Law which became law in May 2005 and renewed in December 2010 and Energy Efficiency Law which became law in March 2007 are among these laws. GUNDER is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to do what is needed in order to develop the utilization and application of technology and science of solar energy. Any individuals, institutions and organizations who want to be engaged in an activity in line with these principles can become members of GUNDER. International Solar Energy Society - ISES International Solar Energy Society (ISES) has been engaged in advancing the solar energy technology and applications since 1954.The headquarter of ISES is in Freiburg, Germany. ISES is an international non-profit organization. ISES involves in activities such as determining the potential, supporting the utilization, developing design methods, providing know-how in order to evaluate the founded systems technically and economically regarding to renewable energies such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydraulic, tidal energy and so forth. ISES, regarded as a leader organization regarding to solar energy, has world’s foremost scientists working on research and development of solar energy. Despite the fact that majority of ISES members are from academic and scientific societies, anyone having an interest in solar energy can become a member of ISES ISES is recognized as a non-governmental non-profit organization by the United Nations and is an advisory organization to the United Nations. It is also a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Committee. ISES became one of the sub-coordinator and participant institutions of the activities such as climate change summits held in Brazil, Japan, Canada, Denmark organized by UN. It played an important role in various activities in aforementioned summits and other organizations regarding to the protection of global climate. ISES is recognized as one of the advisory organizations to the European Union on energy and climate issues.
