Acknowledgements People have often inquired about my decision to stay and carry out my doctoral studies in Greece. Any attempt to justify the reason why I chose to come to a country, where the climate, language, culture and the environment are so extremely different from my own native country, Cameroon, would be very difficult. Well, it could be explained by a strong desire for knowing more about the Theory of Energy and stand on the shoulders of the giants: Socrates, Aristotle, and others, a desire of adventure in ancient cities, love for cultural contacts, destiny, or a combination of all. Nevertheless, I would thank whatever forces that have brought me here, but in particular the Greek Interstate Scholarship Foundation (IKY) for providing me assistance during my doctoral studies. I am grateful to my supervisor, Professor George Papadakis, for having accepted to act as my supervisor and proposed me this topic.
