• Adsorption heat pumps (Type I) are not widely used in industrial applications. Some have been realised to recover heat from refuse incineration plants, notably in Sweden and Denmark. In this type high temperature heat source is used to transfer heat from low temperature heat source to the intermediate heat source. The amount of heat that is delivered to the intermediate heat source is equal to the sum of high temperature and low temperature heat entering to the heat pump. This type is called heat amplifier. Figure 9. Figure 9 –Heat pump (Type I) • Adsorption heat pumps (Type II) have the same main components and working principle as adsorption heat pumps type I. With this type of heat pumps waste heat can be upgraded, virtually without the use of external drive energy. Waste heat of a medium temperature (i.e. between the demand level and the environmental level) is supplied to the evaporator and generator. Useful heat of a higher temperature is given off in the adsorber. The medium temperature should be higher than condenser temperature. Figure 10. 11PDF Image | Thermochemical Heat Pump
