Develop new working fluids that can efficiently recover lowtemperature heat. • Alternate enduses – Develop alternative enduses for waste heat. In addition to new technologies for power generation, options could include converting waste heat into other transportable forms. • Improve heat transfer – Develop novel heat exchanger designs with increased heat transfer coefficients, especially in gastogas and gasliquid heat exchangers. • Processspecific technologies – Develop processspecific heat recovery technologies that address the unique constraints of various applications. • Feed preheat systems – Reduce the cost, technical, and productcontrol challenges of process specific feed preheating systems (e.g., batch/cullet preheating in the glass industry). • Recovery from unconventional sources – Evaluate and develop opportunities for recovery from waste heat sources not typically considered for heat recovery.
