An ORC system is not only an additional power-assisted device but can also assist the powertrain fuel consumption. The implementation of an ORC system in powertrain has both negative and positive aspects in terms of fuel consumption. Figure ‎3-24 illustrates the negative effect of exhaust backpressure due to the thermal-oil heat exchanger length and the positive impact of the ORC system on engine BSFC using equation (‎3-9). Finally, further increase of the thermal-oil heat exchanger size is not expected to be beneficial tothe fuel consumption of the integrated system, as the effect of the exhaust backpressure on fuel
