133 specific speed ππ in equation(β2-3),the rotational speed π and enthalpy drop βππππ‘ can be directly affected by changing the specific speed ππ , whereas the flow rate is constant (input parameter). Once the increase in the rotational speed π is prominent, the power and efficiency increase with ππ until a certain value is achieved. Subsequently, the performance decreases with the increase of ππ because the decrease in enthalpy drop βππππ‘ is more prominent than the increase in rotational speed π. This behaviour is depicted in Figure β5-10a. The increase ofππ has a positive effect on turbine size π1and Mach number π4. The turbine size decreases due to the increase in the rotational speed π and the decrease in enthalpy drop, in which both parameters have a positive effect on the turbine size, as presented in Figure β5-8 and Figure β5-9. Figure β5-8bshows that the rotational speed π has an insignificant effect on π4. However, the substantial decrease in π4 is due to the low enthalpy drops. Therefore, this phenomenon leads to lower rotor blade speed π4 and, hence, lower absolute velocity πΆ4 that eventually results in lower Mach numbers π4. Figure β5-11 summarises this section. The figure shows the positive or negative effect of each input parameter on the investigated parameters. The length of the bar indicates the strength of the effect of the input parameter, classified as strong, moderate or insignificant. The positive and negative signs indicate whether the input parameter has a positive or negative effect on the investigated parameters. Clearly, the four input parameters have a considerable positive effect on the turbine size π1 , and between an insignificant and considerable negative effect on Mach number π4. These parameters also have a positive effect on the turbine power πππ’π‘ and efficiency ππ‘π , except in the flow coefficient, in which the parameters have substantial negative effect on ππ‘π and a moderate negative effect on πππ’π‘ .
