Altogether, the computations show that different perturbations at the inlet do affect the performance of the turbine. As can be seen in Table 4, the isentropic efficiency does not reflect the fact that the shaft power is almost 20% lower for Case 5 as compared to Case 1. This is so since the isentropic efficiency also takes into account the energy content of the flow after the turbine, which can be used to drive a second turbo-charger.
