2. Post-mortem spectroscopy of electrodes Figure VII-2. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) of heat-treated SGL 39AA electrode (500 °C, 5 h), electrode reduced in Fe-Cr RFB negative electrolyte, and electrode soaked in unpurified Fe-Cr RFB electrolyte overnight. SEM / EDS was performed using a Zeiss Merlin High-Resolution SEM, with a 10 keV electron energy and 9.2-mm working distance and an in-lens secondary electron detector. The negative electrode used in the purification process exhibits additional Fe, Cr, and chlorine signals in addition to carbon and oxygen species and trace silicon from the electrode. 113PDF Image | Bringing Redox Flow Batteries to the Grid
